一、True Beauty(真正的美)
Everyone is attracted by beauty and beauty is powerful. But what is true beauty? Perhaps you can get the answer from the following story.
This morning I went to the market to buy some vegetables with my parents. On the way we all highly praised a young man in western-style clothes and leather shoes who was riding by. But he rode so fast that he knocked an old lady down carelessly.Instead of stopping, he pretended not to see this and rode away quickly. We were all very angry with the young man. To our happiness, a girl in plain dress ran forward at once, helped the lady up and took her home. We all praised the girl.
From this we know we cannot judge a person by his appearance. A person who is dressed beautifully may not have a beautiful soul. Only a person who has a beautiful soul is really beautiful.
真正的美
每个人都会被美所吸引,荚有强大的力量.但是什么是真正的美呢?或许你可以从下面的事情中得到答案.
今天早上我和父母一起去市场买蔬菜,路上我们都赞叹一个西装革履的正骑车经过的年轻人.但是他骑得太快了,不小心把一位老妇人撞倒在地.而他却假装没看到,飞快地骑走了.我们都生那个年轻人的气.让人欣慰的是,一个穿着朴素的女孩立刻跑过来,扶起老人并把她送回了家.我们都夸奖这个小女孩.
由此我们知道了,不能通过外表来判断一个人.一个身穿华服的人可能没有美好的心灵,拥有美丽灵魂的人才是真正美丽的.
二、A Shining Star(一颗闪亮的星)
A good teacher is like a shining star to students. Miss Li, my senior middle school English teacher, is a shining star in my life.
When I began my senior middle school years, I had difficulty in learning English. I dared not speak English aloud in public because of my poor pronunciation and intonation.I could not get high marks and grammar was not right at all.Afraid of being lanughed at,I never put up my hand to answer questions in English class.When Miss Li found out my situation,she encouraged me and lent me a hand,which rapidly improved my English.With her help,I became interested in English and eventually got high marks.
Miss Li,like a shining star,shines in my path of success.
一颗闪亮的星
一个好老师对学生来说就像一颗闪亮的星.李老师,我高中时的英语老师,就是我生命中的一颗闪亮的星.
刚上高中时,我英语学得很吃力.我不敢在公开场合说英语,因为我的语音、语调彳艮糟糕,英语成绩彳艮差,语法一塌糊涂.害怕被嘲笑,所以英语课上我从来不举手回答问题.李老师发现我的情况后,向我伸出了援助之手,并鼓励我.这一切使我很快提高了英语水平.在她的帮助下,我渐渐对英语感兴趣了,成绩也提高了.
李老师,就像一颗闪亮的星照耀着我前进的道路.
三、Weekends(周末)
Weekends to people mean that people can have two days' rest. They can go out or get together at home.
Everybody spends weekends in his own way. Some people relax themselves by listening to music, reading in libraries or doing sports outdoors. In a word, different people have different relaxations.
I often spend weekends with my family. Sometimes my parents take me to visit our relatives. Sometimes we go swimming or go dancing and sometimes I go to read some instructive books. I often enjoy myself at weekends.
周末
周末对人们而言意味着可以有两天的休息时间,他们能够外出或在家聚会.
每个人都以自己的方式过周末.有的人通过听音乐、到图书馆读书或在户外运动来放松自己.总之,不同的人有不同的放松方式.
我常与家人共度周末.有时我父母带我去走访亲戚,有时我们去游泳或去跳舞,有时我们去看一些有益的书.我常常在周末过得很愉快.
四、Computer Games(电子游戏)
Playing computer games takes the teenagers too much time these days. So I think computer games should be done away with. They are nothing but a waste of time, money and energy. Teenagers should do valuable things like reading, studying and going to concerts and museums.
Computer games are bad for both the physical and mental health of the young.The computer games rooms are very dark, noisy, and the content are unhealthy and violent, and so on.
Therefore, computer games arcades should be banned fi'om cities and towns.
电子游戏
打电子游戏花费青少年太多的时间,所以我认为电子游戏应该被取缔.它们只是浪费金钱、时间和精力.十几岁的青少年应该做像读书、学习、听音乐会、去博物馆等重要的事情.
电子游戏对青少年的身心健康都有不良的影响.电子游戏室光线黑暗,吵闹,游戏内容不健康、充满暴力等等.
因此,电子游戏厅应该从城镇被取缔.
五、
No Breakfast No Good(不吃早餐不好)
Now a lot of students go to school in a hurry so that they have no time to have breakfast. But not having breakfast will do harm to their health and their study.
Having no breakfast will throw the normal work of our digestive system into confusion. As a result, it will do harm to our health. And at our age it is high time for us to grow up. So our bodies are in great need of energy. If we don't have breakfast,there will be not enough energy to supply. This may stunt our growth.
What's more, it is a long period between breakfast and lunch. Breakfast provides us with the energy needed for the class. Without breakfast we cannot get along well with our classes. So for the sake of our health and our study, we must have breakfast.
不吃早餐不好
现在很多学生上学很匆忙,以至于没有时间吃早餐,但不吃早餐会有害于学生的健康和学习.
不吃早餐会扰乱我们消化系统的正常工作,从而对我们的身体健康产生危害.这个年龄段正是我们长身体的时候,所以我们的身体需要大量的能量.如果我们不吃早餐,就不会提供足够的能量,这会阻碍身体的发育.
另外,早餐与午餐之间.的时间很长.·早餐可以为我们提供上课所需的能量,不吃早餐会影响我们上课.所以,为了我们的健康和学,习,我们必须吃早餐.
六、真正的朋友(True friend)
A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart. There's always going to be people that hurt you, so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.
Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.
Remember: Whatever happens, happens for a reason.
How many people actually have 8 true friends? Hardly anyone I know. But some of us have all-right friends and good friends.
真正的朋友
真正的朋友是一个可以援手帮助并感动你心扉的人. 别人常常伤害你,所以你该继续付出信任,并小心挑选你下次信任的人.
在你想了解别人也想让别人了解你之前,先完善并了解自己.
要记住：任何事情的发生都有因有起.
有多少人可以拥有八个真正的朋友?就我所知少之又少.但我们会有泛泛之交和好友.
七、One-child Family(独生子女家庭)
Most of the Chinese people think that a family with one child is better than those with more children. For one thing, many people will try their best to achieve career success and have little time to care about their children; for another, if they only raise one child they can afford better education for the child.
But there are also some negative views about the one-child family. They think it is better to have a big family. Everyone in the family can help each other when they have difficulties. What is more, the more children they have, the better life they will live when they grow old.
In my opinion, it's enough for a family to have one child. Nowadays population expansion is one of the most serious problems in the world. Population expansion contributes to a series of problems: shortage of natural resources and food supply,crowded cities and high rate of unemployment. Some day the earth will be too crowded for people to live in.
独生子女家庭
大多数中国人认为家里一个孩子比多个孩子更好些.一方面,大多数人努力在事业上获得成功,没有时间去照看孩子；另一方面,如果他们仅仅抚养一个孩子,那么这个孩子能得到较好的教育.
但是一些人反对一个家庭只有一个孩子.他们认为还是大家庭好,在遇到困难时家庭成员可以互相帮助.更重要的是,当他们年老时,孩子越多,他们的生活就越好.
我的观点是家里有一个孩子就足够了.现在人口膨胀是世界上最严重的问题之一.人口膨胀导致一系列的问题：自然资源和食物来源的短缺、城市的拥挤以及高失业率.将来地球太拥挤了,人们就无法在地球上很好地生活.
八、Advertisements(广告)
Nowadays, more and more advertisements appear on newspapers, broadcasts,magazines as well as streets. People have different views on advertisements.
Some people think advertisements can help people to have a wide choice of goods and they help consumers know the goods and businessmen better. The consumers can gain not only knowledge of goods but also artistic enjoyment.
Contrary to those people, many others think advertisements are very unpleasant.Consumers are often cheated by the false advertisement on which consumers always waste a great deal of time. What is more, consumers fell annoyed to be interrupted when they are watching TV plays. So advertisements should be limited.
But whether you like it or not, advertisements have become a part of our life.

现在越来越多的广告出现在报纸、广播、杂志甚至街头,人们对此有不同的看法.
一些人认为广告能拓宽人们对商品的选择,使消费者更好地了解商品和商家.消费者不仅能够获得商品知识,也能得到艺术享受.
相反,另外一些人认为广告很令人讨厌.消费者经常被虚假广告欺骗,而且人们在这些广告上浪费了大量的时间.更有甚者,消费者觉得看电视剧时插播广告让人心烦.因此,广告应当受到限制.
不管你喜不喜欢广告,它已经成为我们生活的一部分.
九、The Cause of fire(火灾原因)
As we all know, fire is one of the most terrible killers in our modern society.We know that fire is mainly caused by smokers, followed by defective insulations and children playing with matches. In 2002 ,thousands of fire happened all over the country, of which 50 percent was caused by smokers who left cigarette-ends everywhere. Those who smoke should make sure that the cigarettes are stubbed out before being thrown away. Also, smoking should not be allowed in public places. 30 percent of fire was caused by defective insulation. Workers should know the importance of good insulation for people's lives. At homes we must pay special attention to electric wires and make sure that they are safe. 20 percent of fire are caused by children playing with matches. We should warn children of the danger of playing with matches.
No matter what type of the reason it was, there was one thing in common:carelessness. So if everyone in the country is careful enough, more fire could be avoided.
火灾原因
我们都知道火灾是现代社会最可怕的杀手之一.火灾主要是由吸烟者、绝缘不良和孩子玩火柴引起的.在2002年,全国发生了成千上万起火灾,其中50%是由于吸烟者随便扔烟头引起的.那些吸烟者应该在扔烟头前确保烟头已经被掐灭.而且,公共场所应该禁止吸烟.30%的火灾是由于绝缘不良引起的,工作人员应该懂得绝缘对人们的重要性.在家里时我们应该尤其注意电线,要确保它们的安全性.20%的火灾是由于孩子玩火柴引起的,我们应该警告孩子玩火柴的危险性.
不管是哪种类型的原因,它们都有一个共同点：粗心.因此如果国家中每个人都足够细心,那么更多的火灾是可以避免的.
十、Mobile Phone(手机)
As can be seen from the charts more and more people own mobile phones in China now. At the end of 2002, there were 20 million mobile phone users. By the year 2005 the number has reached up to 30 million. People have found mobile phones very convenient. They can get in touch with each other whenever and wherever they like. There are many different functions to meet different needs, such as sending short messages and surfing the Intemet.
However, it may also bring us some trouble. For example, if someone calls you by mistake, you will have to pay for this kind of unnecessary calls. And the radiation from the phone may do harm to our health, In spite of this, the number of people having mobile phones is still increasing steadily.
手机
从表中我们可以看到,在中国拥有手机的人越采越多.凹02年年底,有二亿手机用户,到2005年已达三亿.人们发现手机方便,可以随时随地联系想要联系的人.还有许多功能可满足不同要求,如发短信,上网等.
可是手机也给我们带采一些麻烦,如：接到打错的电话并为之付费,电磁辐射有害健康.尽管如此,使用于机的人数仍在稳步升高.
