(1) finally 表示某一动作发生在“最后”,无感情色彩,与之搭配的谓语动词常常是过去式.finally 通常位于句首.如：
Finally he went to see the famous man himself.最后,他亲自看望了这位名人.
(2) at last表示经过一定曲折之后某事才发生,强调努力的后果,带有较强的感情色彩,常出现在谓语动词为过去时的句子中.如：
Did the man in the shop understand him at last?这位店员最后理解了他的意思了吗?
(3) in the end 表示事物发展的自然“终结”,有时可与finally互换.in the end还可用于预测将来,finally和at last没有这种用法.如：
When a piece of ice is taken into a warm room,it becomes smaller and smaller,until in the end it disappears completely.把一块儿冰拿到温暖的室内,它就会慢慢地变小,直到最后完全消失.
